Review: Start Potty Training by Carol Cline
Welcome back to Best Case Parenting. Today. I would like to review a potty training product that I have come across. Potty training is something a lot of new parents want to learn how to do, to avoid messy situations with their toddler. It is especially embarrassing when you are out and about with your young child, and encounter a toileting issue or accident!
So, in short, is Start Potty Training any good? Well, if you can look past the outdated method of course delivery (an eBook), you will find within a full and detailed course that will help you during every step of potty training your child (especially for new or inexperienced parents). This product is also backed by Click Bank (a massive player in selling digital products online), so you know you can get a refund if you are not satisfied!
With the quick summary done, let's get on with the finer details!
I have found a few paid products which are making bold claims about potty training, so I thought I would take a closer look at them. We are starting with a product called Start Potty Training by Carol Cline.
This particular product is making a bold claim that you can potty train your child within three days, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out!
Before we start, I would like to say that on this website we always try to give full and honest reviews. I see way too many cut and paste reviews online from people that have never actually gotten their hands on the product itself. This is why you find a lot of these "reviews" all sound the same.
Rest assured, I have actually had this product in hand and have taken the time to go through it before writing this review!
I want Best Case Parenting to get a reputation for being the place to go for full and honest reviews! This is not a fly by night operation or someone looking for a quick buck!!
On with the review!
What is Start Potty Training?
Our first point of order is to talk about what you will actually get with this product. Fortunately, this part is simple to answer, as the delivery method of Start Potty Training is quite old fashioned. After purchase you simply download the guide in PDF eBook format. This makes things very simple and flexible, as you can easily read this PDF on a number of computers, mobile devices etc. I would recommend uploading it to a service such as Google Books, which will easily allow you to read on a variety of devices. It will also keep track of the page you were last on, which is great.
The downside of this method of delivery is that some people don't have the patience to read such an eBook. It is 125 pages long, consisting of 17 chapters.
Who is behind Start Potty Training?
The product states that it was written by Carol Cline, and that she is a normal mother and owner of a daycare center. That she has focused on potty training and has come up with this plan or guide that she would like to share with other parents. Sounds great, right?
The problem with the online world, is it is sometimes hard to take something at face value!
Now, here at Best Case Parenting, I like to give full and honest reviews. I have tried searching for Carol Cline online and I can't seem to come up with anything. Does this mean Carol Cline doesn't exist? Well I really have no idea!
It is a shame that there is not more information on Carol Cline, to reassure us that she is real and why we should consider her a guru.
The problem I have is that there are many companies using fake online personas in place of real gurus and experts. It can be a real problem when buying an online course or educational product. If you can't see or feel the person who claims to be the author, how do you know they are not just an online persona.
Like I said, I am not accusing Carol Cline of being fake, I just wish that the makers of this product had given her a strong online presence to dampen any fears people might have about this!
Anyway, for the purposes of this review, I will simply focus on the product that is offered and the quality of the information within.
What is the content of Start Potty Training like?
I was a little bit worried about this product after having so much trouble locating the author, and this feeling wasn't helped by the already highlighted outdated method of delivery.....an eBook/PDF document!
I feel like in this day and age, a lot of parents would rather have a product in video form, or even as a web based course. It seems that many people value this more these days!
When I see products such as Positive Parenting Solutions, which are so slick and modern looking, I wonder why people still choose this method of delivery?? Hell, they have a smartphone app that is better than some listed companies!!
I think the problem is that in this internet age, there are many low quality eBooks and PDFs being pumped out, and someone might instantly group a product like this in with that!
However, after reviewing the document, I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised. This is not a quick lead magnet made in five minutes. As stated before, this is a comprehensive eBook of over 100 pages and 17 chapters!
The main PDF potty training guide is comprehensive and offers a wide range of tips and advice. As long as you are willing to read a lengthy PDF, you will get a lot out of this product.
I would bear in mind though, that every child is different and a one size fits all approach is not really possible for potty training. There is a chapter that does talk about when to start potty training, and it does a good job of describing what you should look for to decide whether your child is ready for potty training.
Having noted all of that, as a general guide and tips resource, this product is excellent.
Start Potty Training starts by introducing the history and reasons behind potty training. It then gives you ideas for what is age appropriate for the different stages of potty training. This information is particularly useful if you are a first time mom without previous experience of potty training. As stated above, they help you decide when your child is ready for potty training.
The guide then goes on to describe what you should do to prepare yourself and your child for the three day potty training that lies ahead. I really like these sections, as they make sure that once your three day potty training starts, you are fully aware of what is needed and how to make the whole process run smoothly.
Finally, before you actually start potty training your child, the guide details all the equipment you will need. It is very detailed, even talking about the type of diet your child should have.
By following this guide, you will be fully prepared....both mentally and with the physical resources you will need. Great for the busy parent or carer!
Now the real fun begins. The actual three days of potty training begins!
Start Potty Training will give you a detailed guide of exactly what to do during these three days. This includes giving you a rough idea of the schedule and even what to say to your child.
Everything is clearly laid out and described, ideal for first time mothers that are worried about potty training. I have been working with young children for over a decade myself, and for me this guide offers a lot of great advice. It even breaks down the common differences between boys and girls when potty training, as well as extra tips for autistic or special needs children.I feel as if literally no stone is left unturned!
To round up the eBook guide, you will also be given tips on how to deal with "bumps in the road". As we all know, nothing will ever run perfectly, especially the first time. This section will help a lot with how to deal with tantrums when potty training, for example.
You will also have a section regarding "out in the world" situations. Giving advice on how to be confident in your potty training when outside of your home. It goes through a number of different locations, including some exotic ones (cruise ships!!).
How much does it cost and is it a scam?
When I review any product, I always like to do my research and make sure that I have a good idea about the background of what I am reviewing.
When doing this for Start Potty Training I came across a large group of users claiming that this whole product is in fact a scam. They are stating such things as the content being just "common sense" and "nothing special", as well as that they cannot get a refund.
In my opinion, it is a shame that Carol Cline is not an actual personality or guru with a strong online presence. I don't know if she is real or not, but it leads to the type of speculation indicated above, which is not helpful.
When focusing on the actual product and what is offered, I feel that it is a full and comprehensive guide that is ideal for new mothers, or those that are struggling with potty training. Of course, if you are an experienced parent, you may not need such a resource.
And the refund situation complained about is actually not true. It is more that these people are not aware of the channels they need to go through to get a refund.
Start Potty Training is sold through a company called Click Bank, who are a long standing and reputable marketplace for (mainly) digital goods. If you are not happy with this product, you can simply contact Click bank for a full refund.
Now that I have cleared that up, I want to say that the current price at the time of writing is $38. A 60 day money back guarantee is offered.
Should you buy Start Potty Training by Carol Cline?
As this is my first review of a potty training product, I have done so with great interest. I have been impressed with the quality and amount of advice on offer in this program, for a reasonable price.
The one main area of concern for me, is the outdated method of delivery. In my opinion, this could be a main reason for many of the complaints. Simply that people don't realise that the product is a long PDF that they need to read. And when they receive this, they find reading it a chore and quickly want to get a refund. Or they think it is just another useless eBook made in a few minutes! I wish that they would turn this product into a web based product with the option of videos! This is what most people expect these days!
However, if you take the time to delve into what is included here, you should be pleasantly surprised (like me). Come into it with an open mind, and you should be able to make a clear judgment!
The only other issue I have is that I can't see any obvious way to give feedback to the author of this product. It would be great if they gave a clear person to contact, or even a community forum to access, so that parents can ask any questions they may have when using the course. This is only a minor gripe, but one I would like to see them work on!
So, although there are some drawbacks, I still wholeheartedly recommend this product, but only to those that are aware of the fact that you will need to carefully read a 125 page PDF document to get the full value and advice.
Also, this product offers great tips. But if you are already experienced in potty training or have a lot of your own techniques already, you may want to skip this product.
All in all, if this product fits your needs, it is a bargain at $38. That is the same price as a cheap meal out for two, and could potentially save a new or inexperienced parent a lot of heart ache when potty training for the first time!
As this is a Click Bank product with a full proof guarantee, I would finish by saying this. If you read this article and feel any draw to such a potty training product. Why not go ahead and try it. If you find that you are not happy, simply get a refund.
Going forward, it will be interesting to see how this product stacks up against any future potty training products I review! The journey has started!
